Global Roundtable New Giving — A conversation among initiatives rethinking philanthropy
The Dialogue New Giving is not the only effort of wealth holders attempting to improve the operating environment, create learning space, and transform the practice of giving. Through our networks, we have come to learn that recently and independently from one another, similar initiatives have formed in other countries, similarly aiming to bring philanthropy and social investing to the next level. While the “levers” they pull and stakeholders they engage may be different depending on the local context, they are often not only concerned with increasing individual giving but with expanding philanthropy as a system and driven or at least accelerated in their urgency by the global pandemic.
While many explore similar paths, we are yet to be connected for learning, sharing, and greater impact.
Inspired by conversations with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the German Dialog Neues Geben hosted a global conversation to share ideas, explore differences, and find synergies. This co-created 1.5 hours video invite-only conference brought together 20 leaders from 8 countries working with wealth holders to revitalize giving in initiatives including the Generosity Commission, the Beacon Collaboration, Accelerate Indian Philanthropy, Asia Philanthropy Circle, and Resource Justice.
